Bye bye Lucky

Today, Lucky’s new moms, Paola and her sister Carolina, picked him up. I have to admit he took a piece of my heart with him. What a week this puppy gave us – from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. I picked up lots and lots of doggie poop, cuddled him to sleep, took him on long and short walks, taught him not to bite Nathan, watched and laughed as he played with Nathan’s elmo doll, taught Nathan not to be so jealous, and watched as he got stronger and more agile every day. Even though my heart is aching because he’s not here, I am so happy that he is safe, and with a wonderful family who I know will love and cherish him to pieces. Need I say more:

From Lucky

Nathan and I went to watch “The Princess and the Frog”. It was soooo cute! We both really enjoyed it. We had dinner at Crepes & Waffles afterwards and they took such great care of us. They know us by now and know that Nathan can’t eat almost anything on their menu so they prepared scrambled eggs with tomatoes just for him – and didn’t charge us for it! I love it when people take good care of my Nathan – they definitely won our loyalty 🙂

It was a lovely date with a bittersweet ending – when we got home we both looked for Lucky only to find an empty apartment. But all is well that ends well and the end of Lucky’s time with our family is the beginning of a wonderful new life for him – and for that I am happy. I guess this whole experienced reaffirmed my belief that doing the right thing is never wrong – so to everyone who got mad at me for rescuing Lucky (especially those people whose name start with an O) – I don’t regret it for a milisecond!

I hope everyone has a lovely rest of the weekend.
