Nathan is doing much better, ready and anxious to go home!
The ph probe was a no-go, so we just have to do the barium swallow and then we get to go home.
He’s back to his usual happy self!
Still at the hospital

Nathan is still at the hospital and will be here for 2 more nights. He has bronchitis and croup, which was affecting his breathing. He’s been receiving breathing treatments, iv steroids, and got a big dose of antibiotics. The question arose about whether this was all being caused by reflux and/or aspiration. He’s been off Prevacid for a couple of years, but they are now wondering if that might be part of the problem.
Tomorrow they are doing a ph probe and a swallow study so we can get more info about the cause of these problems. These tests will measure reflux and whether or not he’s aspirating.
With that info we will determine if he needs a G tube and what foods we can feed him orally, and how.
I’ll update tomorrow once we get more info.
In the meantime he is pretty miserable and is not his usual happy self. Continued prayers are appreciated!
