Nathan’s menu and medicine schedule

Today I wanted to share Nathan’s menu and medicine schedule to follow up with all of the posts I wrote last week regarding nutrition. It’ll give you some idea of how we incorporate all of the different health principles that we follow. One new thing we’re just trying is puree’ing salads so Nathan can also eat raw foods, which is not something we’ve done before but something which I think is very important. We’re also trying very hard not to mix proteins with carbs and not to mix fruits with other foods.

Timing is also pretty important – water 45 min’s before or after a meal, G-therapy 45 min’s before or after a meal, prevacid 45 min’s before or after a meal (it prevents absorption of nutrients), fruits 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating other foods.

Finally, we’re also incorporating chia and sesame seeds in with his lunch and dinner. Here in Chile we’re cooking with Extra-virgin organic olive oil, but in LA, we use mostly coconut oil.

If you want to read more about the supplements we’re giving him, you can visit this entry: Nathan’s supplements

Nathan prop sitting

I took this video of Nathan prop sitting yesterday while reading a book. I filmed him for about a minute, but he sat up and read the book with me for much longer! That’s the 3rd time he does it!

I filmed him while turning the pages so the angle was a bit off, but you get the idea 🙂

Meet Lucky

Yesterday we were looking for a few bits and pieces for the apartment when I saw a cute little puppy all alone hiding underneath a bench in front of a church. Even though there are a lot of stray dogs running all over Santiago, I still haven’t been desensitized to the sight of homeless dogs. This one broke my heart. I can sorta handle (not really) seeing adult dogs roaming the streets. But a tiny 2 month old puppy? How could he find food? How could he survived in the middle of a tough neighborhood? I looked and asked around for possible owners, for his mom, for anyone that might be responsible for him…with no success. What else could I have done? I picked him up and brought him home with me. I know I know I’m crazy. But I just couldn’t do otherwise. So now we have Lucky at home. I took him to the vet yesterday and he’s in pretty good shape, the vet thinks he was dumped by someone, as he was in pretty good shape to have been on the streets – no fleas, ticks, cuts, bruises or diseases. We bathed him and she gave him some meds and he was discharged with a clean bill of health! And now I have to find him a home. Please pray that lucky finds a wonderful home here in Santiago. Thank you so much!!!
