MIT robotic therapy holds promise for cerebral palsy

Over the past few years, MIT engineers have successfully tested robotic devices to help stroke patients learn to control their arms and legs. Now, they’re building on that work to help children with cerebral palsy.

“Robotic therapy can potentially help reduce impairment and facilitate neuro-development of youngsters with cerebral palsy,” says Hermano Igo Krebs, principal research scientist in mechanical engineering and one of the project’s leaders.

This is a great article and a video with some examples of children using robotic therapy.

Off to Canada!

I’ve just gotten back from putting Owen, Nathan & Mary on a plane to Canada.  The doctor said I have pneumonia and tonsillitis so travelling wasn’t a great idea.  Owen was able to step in and take my place on the trip so they’re on their way now!

They’re seeing Esther Fink for a 2nd Medek intensive.  I am sad that I couldn’t be there but excited that Nathan was still able to go.  He has a little bit of tonsillitis himself but we caught it so early that we don’t think it will be too tough on him.

I’ll keep you posted as I hear updates from Owen about Nathan’s progress with Medek!

So Sick

Not Nathan.. me.  I haven’t been this sick in 5 years, with fevers, achy body, head, throat, everything.  So far he seems to only be mildly affected, but no fevers or anything too serious.  Please pray that he doesn’t pick up this nasty nasty bug from me!   Also pray that our trip to Canada isn’t affected!
