Neural Impulse Actuator

I found this today and was incredibly intrigued by it:

This is the type of technology that I’ve been waiting to hear more about for people with severe CP and locked-in syndrome. Something that reads their brain waves and translates that into physical actions.

This was created by gamers but I can see its applications for switch users. In fact, maybe this could be how Nathan drives a power chair in the future?

I had a gift card from Amazon so I went ahead and ordered it. It may be too complicated for Nathan, but I figured this was worth at least checking out. If it doesn’t work for him – look out for it as a giveaway on this site! hehe.

Wanderlust

I am feeling the itch again…the itch to wander, travel, feel the hot sun on my (fat) bikini clad skin, let down my hair and forget about therapies, todo lists, daily routines.

If I can combine some travelling with HBOT for Nathan? Even better! I found an HBOT chamber in Cartagena, Colombia, the most beautiful beach town I’ve ever been to. I’ve spoken with the doctor and am hoping to hear from him soon about whether they can treat Nathan.

After Nathan’s recent illness and hospitalization, I’ve realized more and more that the most valuable thing that I have in this life is time – time with my happy loving mischievous son, time with him while he is alive, feeling well, not in pain. That hospitalization changed EVERYTHING for me. All of a sudden therapies, achievements, milestones, even inchstones seem much less important, and what matters most of all is his health, happiness, and quality of life.

So why not give him the best quality of life I can offer him? Lots of beach time…lots of fun….lots of fattening unhealthy foods…

I might even squeeze some physical therapy while we are down there…appreciating his life doesn’t mean I’d stop therapies…but it just means that FUN has to be prioritized a whole lot more! And a trip to Colombia sounds like just what the doctor ordered.

Especially because we are starting round 128 and Nathan came down with another cold today….wheezing…dry cough…low grade fever…loss of appetite.

Heat, humidity, beach, fun in the sun….might just be the best medicine out there for Mr. Nathan. We’ll see if I can put it together and pull it off!!!!

Lookalike 3 AKA peanut

Today I had my anatomy check-up with the perinatologist for mr. peanut. Who, by the way, is going to be the 3rd lookalike. I compared the ultrasound pics with Belle’s and their profile is IDENTICAL. Owen’s genes rage on in my children 🙂

The fantastic news – peanut looks perfectly HEALTHY. Brain, heart, spine, organs…everything is right on target. He weights 10 oz today, and all of his measurements – head circumference, femur, head to tailbone – are perfectly average. The doctor was very happy with everything!

This little boy is already rocking my world! I’ve had a few people tell me that he will be a very special, spiritual, sensitive soul – and I feel it already. I love feeling him kick, move around, talking and reading to him. I think knowing that this is my last baby is making me savor this connection more than ever.

As for names – he is still peanut for now. My favorites right now are Maximilian and Sebastian. I am waiting until a name feel 100% perfect for this little boy, just as I felt with Nathan Dorje and Isabelle Tara. I hope to have a name soon 🙂

I leave you with a picture of Nathan on his 1st Bday party:
