Vaccinations

If anyone is wondering whether I will vaccinate Belle (because I know you are all sitting around thinking about things like this ;-), the answer is a clear resounding NO.

Here’s a wonderful post explaining why: Vaccinations.

I WILL give Belle some vaccines – not all – and the ones I give her will be on an alternate, much gentler schedule. Since we are planning on going to Chile in September and Brasil in October this year, I will give her some vaccines to protect her against diseases that she could pick up while travelling – but I will definitely not follow the standard schedule. Here are some links to alternate schedules and other interesting information: Generation Rescue Vaccination Information.

An ABM inchstone

I know this may not look like much…but it’s AWESOME for Nathan. Usually, Nathan’s pelvis is immobile. It’s like he has no pelvis – it has 0 mobility. After 1 week of ABM, he’s starting to realize that he HAS a pelvis and that he can use it to move!

In the video it looks like Victoria helped him, but he really did it by himself. He did it a few other times where it was obvious that she wasn’t helping him at all, but I wasn’t fast enough with the camera. He also did it yesterday 3 separate times.

The moral – ABM is working! This therapy WILL help Nathan! Victoria felt that there was a lot of subtle movements that opened up for Nathan, and she believes that with continuity of treatments, Nathan will understand that he CAN move. Wohooo!

Victoria wants Nathan to take a month off to integrate what he learned this week. We have something special planned for this month (more on that tomorrow), so it works out perfectly. Next month (March) we’ll do another ABM intensive, but for 2 weeks instead of 1 week. This is all very exciting!

Nathan’s bliss

From Random

My favorite part of the day has rapidly become Nathan’s night-time routine.

It used to be that he would get a little cranky in the bath, or when I was trying to give him a massage.  If I even tried touching his back, he would start whining.

Since we’ve returned from Chile and he’s been Mr. Bliss King, he is LOVING his massages.  I can work on every single part of his body and he blisses out.

We start with a hot bath where we sit in aromatherapy bath salts and chamomile oil.  We just chill, “talk”, and simply enjoy soaking.  Then I take him to his room and start playing his current favorite CD, Cari Caracua from Musiqueros.  Instant smiles.  Then I start massaging him, from the feet up.  He lays there and his eyes glaze over with bliss and he just relaxes and enjoys.  I finish by massaging his scalp, which invariably makes him laugh (I’ll post a video of this soon).  Then I put on his diaper, pijamas, we cuddle and say our prayers together, and I kiss him good night.

His bliss is infectious – I walk out of his room on cloud 9.
