A vblog

So here it is, midnight, and I have a hairy munchkin sitting on my lap. Why is he up so late, you may be wondering? I wondered the same when I heard him crying loudly, which was pretty unusual for him. So I went in his room and found him on his back with half his body under the bed railing. On his back? Yes, don’t ask me how he got there, as I put him down on the other edge of the bed – on his belly! Are the days of finding him where we left him over? I sure hope so!

So here we are, with munchies awake, hanging out, so we thought we’d do a vblog tonight as our daily post:

On other news, there was a cancellation today so Nathan had 2 sessions with Ramon. He did GREAT! Unfortunately I forgot my camera and didn’t film, but he did really really great, I was so proud of him. Our plan to have another PT do the morning CME session at home was a failure. Ramon truly is a genius and the new guy couldn’t get even 1/20th of the response Ramon gets from Nathan. So we’re just gonna save Nathan’s energy for his 1 daily session with Ramon, and use the rest of the time to do other exercises, go to the pool, and other fun things.

And now, I’m gonna try and put this child back to sleep! Good night!

Polyphenols and polyunsaturated fatty acids boost the birth of new neurons

Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) researchers have confirmed that a diet rich in polyphenols and polyunsaturated fatty acids, patented as an LMN diet, helps boost the production of the brain’s stem cells -neurogenesis- and strengthens their differentiation in different types of neuron cells.

Polyphenols can be found in tea, beer, grapes, wine, olive oil, cocoa, nuts and other fruits and vegetables. Polyunsaturated fatty acids can be found in blue fish and vegetables such as corn, soya beans, sunflowers and pumpkins. The LMN cream used in this study was composed of a mixture of natural products: dried fruits and nuts, coconut, vegetable oils rich in polyunsaturated fat and flour rich in soluble fiber.

More and more proof that what we eat determines how our brain develops and functions!

Bye bye Lucky

Today, Lucky’s new moms, Paola and her sister Carolina, picked him up. I have to admit he took a piece of my heart with him. What a week this puppy gave us – from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. I picked up lots and lots of doggie poop, cuddled him to sleep, took him on long and short walks, taught him not to bite Nathan, watched and laughed as he played with Nathan’s elmo doll, taught Nathan not to be so jealous, and watched as he got stronger and more agile every day. Even though my heart is aching because he’s not here, I am so happy that he is safe, and with a wonderful family who I know will love and cherish him to pieces. Need I say more:

From Lucky

Nathan and I went to watch “The Princess and the Frog”. It was soooo cute! We both really enjoyed it. We had dinner at Crepes & Waffles afterwards and they took such great care of us. They know us by now and know that Nathan can’t eat almost anything on their menu so they prepared scrambled eggs with tomatoes just for him – and didn’t charge us for it! I love it when people take good care of my Nathan – they definitely won our loyalty 🙂

It was a lovely date with a bittersweet ending – when we got home we both looked for Lucky only to find an empty apartment. But all is well that ends well and the end of Lucky’s time with our family is the beginning of a wonderful new life for him – and for that I am happy. I guess this whole experienced reaffirmed my belief that doing the right thing is never wrong – so to everyone who got mad at me for rescuing Lucky (especially those people whose name start with an O) – I don’t regret it for a milisecond!

I hope everyone has a lovely rest of the weekend.
